“School Shootings: Let’s Not Forget the Others”
Following the terrible school shooting in Ohio this week in which
three students were killed and two others injured, the nation again
tries to understand the tragedy of violence in schools. Our Florida
member The Children’s Campaign has a meditation on the nature of school
shootings in America and abroad, drawing from trends and recommendations
from experts.
“Whether the cause is chronic bullying, social alienation, disruptive
homes, access to lethal weapons or mental dysfunction, the sad reality
is that law enforcement is called upon from the cell phones or urgent
text messages of students during or immediately after these shootings.
Home, school, and community-wide solutions are necessary to prevent them
in the first place,” writes Roy Miller, president and founder of The
Children’s Campaign. Read the whole piece online.
