COVINGTON — Nearly six months after police say Richard Michael Beers ran a red light causing a wreck that killed two people, the 20-year-old Independence man has been charged in their deaths.

A Kenton County grand jury indicted Beers, who has a long history of driving infractions, on two counts of reckless homicide Thursday.

May 12, 2010 – Pulled over in Boone County for running a stop sign. Paid $163 fine.
June 2, 2010 – Pulled over in Independence for not wearing a seat belt then cited for not having license with him.
Sept. 4, 2010 – Pulled over for a stop sign violation in Kenton County, then cited for not having license with him. Charge dismissed after he showed proof of his license.
Oct. 27, 2010 – Pulled over in Independence for improper passing, also cited for not having insurance card. Charges dismissed after he did four hours of community service at the Kenton County Animal Shelter.
Nov. 22, 2010 – Charged with reckless driving in Kenton County, pleaded guilty, paid a $159 fine and completed traffic school.
April 11, 2011 – Completed traffic school for reckless driving charge.
May 23, 2011 – Pulled over in Florence for not wearing seat belt. Paid $25 fine.
July 25, 2011 – Pulled over for disregarding a stop sign in Kenton County, paid $154 fine.
Aug. 5, 2011 – Charged with running a red light at Ky. 17 and Ky. 3035, killing two people.
